Well, Melanie and I got back from our Idaho/Nevada ministry trip/vacation early EARLY Friday morning (about 6 am...)

It was a great trip. Dad preached 9 sessions in 8 days. We only were able to record 8 sessions, due to a microphone issue on the first one, but I've still been busy since we got back transferring these to digital. That's it...before our next trip out I'm setting us up to record direct to digital, either in audio CD form or perhaps a laptop making MP3. :)

OTOH, feeding them into the computer has been fun. I was able to take Dad's 75-minute "From the Pasture to the Palace" and take it down to 59 minutes, without it sounding unnatural. :) We still have a few calls for tape, so this is good, being able to fit it on a 60.

More good news...I got a temporary job assignment for the next few days, so we're gonna have some cash, and that's a good thing. The downside is that we'll miss a couple of days of the Kenneth Copeland meetings in Ft. Worth. O well, we'll save some cash on motels that way too.

God is good, and I'm glad He loves us. I thank Him for His provision!

hey gang...

i just got back from my honeymoon with Melanie. THAT went EXCELLENT, and I don't think you need all the details except to say that Melanie was DEFINITELY worth the wait.

Unfortunately, we got back yesterday afternoon and went into work this morning, only to find out that I no longer have a job. Apparently, through some miscommunication, the big boss was unaware that I was going to be gone for a week PLUS a day...I had thought I was very clear on that, but when I wasn't in yesterday, he had the shift boss pull my card. I'm told I need to talk to the big boss, but he wasn't in today.

SOOOOOOOOO....I have a new wife (GREAT), a house (of sorts), but no job...which means no visible source of money. And with Cornerstone, the Southwest Believers' Convention (errrrr....wait, that's the Southwest Prosperity Convention this year), and a ministry trip to Idaho all coming up, it would be nice not to need to work, but I DEFINITELY need the funds. Pray that God will open the sources of supply to BLESS us...

last minute wedding preparations

So, i'm taking a few minutes out of a busy Saturday morning to (FINALLY!) post a semi-detailed, semi-coherent update. (As if anyone reads this thing...lol!)

I've got two weeks left until my wedding, and I have no clue how I'm gonna fit everything in. I actually leave here a week from Monday (approximately 9 days from now), and I'll be in Iowa with my beloved for the last few days before the wedding. So THIS place needs to be ready before we leave that Monday afternoon.

When Melanie came down in February, we started looking for a car and a place to live. Well, God provided the car (a 2000 Chrysler LHS...it is NICE!) and it was more than I ever dreamed was possible for us to get starting out. And we DO have a roof over our heads and a floor under our feet. But the place to live that's being provided for is my trailer, a 10x65 mobile with a few bad windows and two external doors in dire need of replacement.

That's OK, though...my primary hold-up is that 1) I have never had utilities hooked up out there, and I've been out there since about 2001. (I've been on extension cords from my 'rents' house, and had to come in here for showers and bathroom.), and 2) the place hasn't had a thorough top-to-bottom cleaning since late 2001 (when my ex and I split up...tis a long story and one that has no bearing here, except to say that while she wasn't living with me, a LOT of her stuff was there, and when she left, she left the place in an upheaval.)...I'm by nature something of a slob, something I'm working on to overcome, but it's slow going.

So, I've been cleaning, moving stuff to storage, getting rid of wall deco that won't fit in our lifestyle together (nothing EVIL, just some Christian punk bands and stuff that I don't particularly listen to anymore, and we gotta have room for Mel's KISS and Zeppelin posters. O joy. :P ), and WORKING on getting utilities hooked up. Of primary concern are water and sewer, and I'm not sure how much this stuff is gonna cost.

Anyway....I gotta go get back at it. I AM excited about marrying Melanie, and I'm SOOOO ready to be together with her permanently, in all the ways that that entails, but the getting-ready part isn't fun. For her part, she's been running around getting the last minute stuff of the wedding ready, so it's not like she hasn't been busy too.

Oh yeah...a few weeks ago, Mel's friend Kitt was down here and we started working on my new album Living Fire. Things are going well so far. We're recording at a local studio called Inex Sound Studios, with an old friend of mine named Larry Hale doing the engineering, mixing and production. Larry's old gig in the early 1990s was a band called Holy Vengeance, and I've just transferred their single complete album to CD. It's great stuff, purely classic '80s-esque metal. :D

He's gotten a couple of new fans out of it, and it was great to hear that old album on CD for the first time. GREAT stuff. Wish they could make a comeback. Who knows, Larry said he might mix the unfinished followup HV album. w00t!!

And FIVE months from today...I shall be married, and the world shall have to face Mrs. Melanie M. Marihugh... i STILL need some 3M tapes for our wedding. lol.

Stuck in the Terminal with Melanie...

er, not...

with apologies to Weird Al's "Stuck in a Closet with Vanna White" AND Stealer's Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle With You".

But Melanie WAS stuck in Kansas City last night after her connecting bus there filled up. The bus companies were on ice routes, meaning major roads/stops only...so Mel couldn't try again the next day, and she is STILL not home (either one of them, either Iowa or Oklahoma). She made it to her grandma's house, but still not home...this severely limits our contact. :(

She called last night from her g-ma's house though...i was glad to know she's safe. It might be the weekend before she gets home. :( again. but hey, life is good, and God is still in control...

She's supposed to be back here for Valentine's Day, and i can hardly wait...

in other news, there's a company-wide drug test at work next month, so all the druggies are temporarily clean, and cranky in the process. not for the same reason I am, obviously. hehehe. Also, rumor mill says we might go back to 12s...w00t...also might see a cost-of-living raise. :D

Mel left on her way back to Iowa just a bit ago, and looking through the CDs and stuff I got from her and Kitt, I still have to wonder if Kitt was TRYING to get Mel and I to cuddle more...assorted Eagles, Chicago, and Journey mixes, as well as BB King and Eric Clapton's "Riding with the King" album...all cuddle-worthy CDs.

Mel's offerings were a bit heavier, with KISS and Foreigner mixes, but she did copy our Al Green disc for me too. (I bought us an Al Green love songs CD on one of my previous trips up there, and I finally got a copy of it. lol.) I also took advantage of Mel being in a motel here to tape some movies off of HBO. :)

so on top of having a great 3 weeks, i got some great new music and movies... it's been awesome. was sad to see her go back, but she'll be back here soon. Valentine's Day, if I can pull it off. :D

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

It's been a great month and a great year for me. Met the love of my life, got a decent job again, had some success in ministry, made great plans for '05, including a new album, with a full band that's gonna totally rock face. It's gonna rock harder than your grandma's cookies.
And of course, the biggest part of my plans over the next 5 months and 10 days are centered on June 11, a day that will be quite possibly the greatest day i've ever had. I can hardly wait for Melanie to become a Marihugh...it's gonna SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO rock......

Melanie's been here since the 14th, getting to know Pryor, and hanging out with the family, meeting the church folks, experiencing the local culture. It's been a great 3 weeks...

anyway, much love to all, and best wishes for a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Be blessed, and follow God in all that you do.

OK, so it's been almost 3 weeks since my last entry. my internet was broken. no one noticed except Mel, and possibly some ZPoCians. lol.

2 weeks ago, I threw myself a little mini liberation party, in celebration of it being 3 years since my relationship with my ex exploded in a massive fireball. Pearl Harbor Day. That was appropriate.

2 and a half years later, God sent the REAL thing into my life, in the form of a beautiful woman who loves Jesus, loves music, and loves me. So on December 8, a day later, i celebrated 6 months with the love of my life....it's alllllllllllllllllllllllllll gooooooooooooood.

ok, so it was short, but hey, she's in town and i'm off to spend some time with her. later, all.

...and i haven't fallen off the face of the earth. i've just been involved in things that do not involve (gasp!) the computer!

i spent most of last week with Melanie...it was a fabulous, wonderful, fantastic, awesome, amazing, grand trip. God taught us both a LOT, including teaching this tough guy what he already knew, that it IS ok to cry sometimes. I miss my baby SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much when we're not together. God is holding us in His hands though, and we'll be together again from about the 14th to about the 3rd...nice long trip...gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood stuff. can hardly wait for my church family(ies) to meet her. ;)

1 week to go!! prayer requests and praise...

...lol, again.

I am one week away from being back in my baby's arms where I belong. I love her so much, that not getting to see her very often is pretty rough on me. Daryl and Sammie: congrats on your relationship as well...I'm happy for y'all. Just wish I could be closer to my girl.

Other times, however, it's a good thing that I'm NOT closer to her. When you love a person this much, and you're attracted to them the way I am to Melanie...sometimes it's hard to keep in mind the self-control that I know I need to have. God is faithful, however, to lead us when we turn to Him. Please keep me in your prayers. June 11th seems so close when it comes to preparations and yet so far away when it comes to getting to that togetherness (spiritually, mentally, and physically) that married couples can experience togheter.

Other prayer requests: Mom broke her foot recently, and has been using a wheelchair and walker to get around. Pray for rapid recovery and complete healing.

Also, my bro and sis-in-law recently lost their baby, and that's never a good thing. Bro adds that misguided people have been spouting typical religious BS (pardon my language for a moment) about it being "God's will to take their baby". What utter crap. God doesn't "take" people's babies. satan is the destroyer, not God. :P :P :P

I'm excited about Thanksgiving and about spending some quality time with Melanie...can hardly wait!!

5 months to forever...

wow, has it really only been 5 short months that I've known the delicious Miss Melanie...it's been an incredible trip thus far.

I never gave much detail on the October trip, so i guess i can do that here.

I had my plans, and God had others. The October trip did not go like i expected it to...from Mom and Dad making the full 6-hour trip to Mel rather than her meeting us anywhere along the way. The motel didn't have my room available. That wasn't a big deal, really....they're all basically alike. It's just that room 212 has some significance to me. O well, the fact that Mel and I were together was what really mattered.

So, I proceeded with my proposal plan in the breakfast room of the local motel...only breakfast place open was McDonald's and we didn't wanna do it there. lol. Had a bit of a scary moment when i thought i was gonna forget my lyrics (the song was "If You Could See What I See" by Geoff Moore). It was OK though; Melanie has always been so understanding of me and helpful when I'm feeling off-center. Then i dropped the ring while trying to put it on her finger. doheth.

Minor glitches in the proposal itself aside, I DID get the answer that I'd hoped for, and it was a tremendous weekend.

i love her sooooooooooooooooooooo much....can hardly wait to be with her forever and a day.

W00t w00t!! I've only known Mel for 4 and a half months, and it seems like a lot longer (in a GOOD way of course). I love this woman with everything...she's the best thing (other than salvation) ever to happen to me.

soooooooooooooooo....7 and a half months, and Mel becomes my bride... **goes looking for 3M brand tapes for the wedding...**

less than 2 days...

sooooooooo...

went through a BAD day today.

yesterday, about 7 o'clock, i get told that we're going to 8-hour shifts again, rather than 12s, and that i'm supposed to be there at 3 today. Told the boss that this is in fact impossible, with my ride situation being as it is. Boss's reaction was basically "i don't care. take it up with the big boss."

Not having the big boss's number, i couldn't call him, so on Dad's suggestion went in at 7 this morning (normal time)... and worked the full shift. Jamie (big boss) never did come by, so dunno what my permanent situation will be, but tomorrow's my last day before my trip, so i'll...not worry, but concern myself with it later.

about 8:30, the table that my phone was on took a tumble, and the phone did not survive. i have to call Cingular about that, but the biggest problem was that i couldn't call my baby while i was on break. this after promising i would. first time i've ever broken a promise to her, either willingly or not, and Lord willing, it'll be the last time.

anyway, we're hoping for the best, and i can hardly wait. another 40 hours or so and i'll be back with Mel. wooooooooohoooooooooo.

i love her so much, and i thank God for her every day. can't wait to be back up there.

so i got my new phone a couple of days ago. this means that Mel and I talk on break, and she txt emails me as well. this makes it easier to keep my head up. the job is going well, but i miss my baby sooooooooooooooooo much!!

man........i've been SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO busy that i don't even get to do email and lj, hardly. i work, i eat, i talk to my baby, and i sleep. that's about it.

Can hardly wait to go see Melanie again....11 days and counting! and i went and bought some cool stuff this week for the trip. ;)) i'm totally stoked.

yesterday was sooooooo boring. we were running felt at work rather than "90 pound", which is our slang for the roll roofing. Felt runs much lighter, but also much slower. In a good 8 hours running 90, we can make 100 pallets or better. Running felt, we're lucky to get 45 to 50 pallets, if we're running the lightest weight we have, which also runs fastest. We started out running the faster "GAP 30" and had 10 pallets in the first two hours. Then we switched over to a heavier paper that had to run slower, and cranked out 25 pallets in the remaining 7 hours of the shift. we cut off early because there was no second shift running. Starting this week, no weekends, but still on 12-hour days M-F. :P

the biggest problem was that although it was the weekend and i have my new phone, it wasn't activated yet, so i didn't get to talk to Mel, so i was bored ALL FREAKING DAY! i was about to go out of my mind. lol.

well, not much else to say...working 60+ hours a week at GAP leaves me not able to say much. Other than if you ever go to Lowe's and see G.A.P. Roofing, Inc. Mineral Surfaced Roll Roofing...think of me and the guys who make this stuff.

Started Monday morning back out at G.A.P. Roofing. I worked there for two years, but that was two years ago, and I was totally not ready to go back, but the payoff will be well worth it. PLENTY of moolah for the upcoming Iowa trip. 3 and a half weeks and counting and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ready to be back in my baby's arms where I belong.

Pray for me...12 hour shifts, 6 days a week. great overtime pay!! hard work.

This is the Proverbs 5 woman come to life (Prov. 5:1-14, approx). This is also a picture of the dark temptation of sin. Sin looks GOOD to our human eyes. Sin wouldn't be such a problem if it didn't feel good to the flesh. It brings a temporary satisfaction, a thrill, a buzz.

The singer is a torn person...on one hand, the sin looks good. In the case of the Proverbs 5 woman, she's a very attractive, sexy woman, and she's using all her charms to melt the guy's defenses. He's torn, because he KNOWS it is wrong, but at the same time, it looks good.

This is the primary reason that it's so hard to overcome temptation. In fact, it's largely impossible if we try it on our own. This is why we need God's help, and the support of the Body of Christ.

Brothers and sisters, don't kick your fellow brother or sister when they're down. When one falls, those who are around need to pick up and restore that one.

I know, I've been there. The temptations can be too much for one to handle. Ecclesiastes says it this way:

9 It's better to have a partner than go it alone.
Share the work, share the wealth.

But if there's no one to help, tough!

Man, i'm tired. The next 5 weeks are gonna be rough. not used to actual physical labor. lol. It's all good though...these 5 weeks may be rough, but the payoff will be well worth it.

Keep me in prayer, for physical, spiritual, and mental strength.
